A dream come true

Does anyone besides me and Mandy remember how I talked forever about wanting my hair pink? Not all of it, just part of it, like I'd tip it or something.

For those of you who didn't get to hear that particular mantra let me enlighten you. I wanted to dye my hair pink, not all of it, just part of it. Tip it or something. Couldn't do it while applying for jobs because what if that turned a potential employer off of me? Mandy bought me ManicPanic Hot Pink hair dye and it has sat in storage for more than a year, taunting me, guilting me. So ... I decided to finally go and do it.

Before I left for Christmas I checked the company dress code. It doesn't mention hair color at all. And I've talked to people before about different aspects of the dress code. Basically, as long as my boss doesn't have a problem with it, and its within the bounds of the company dress code, its kosher.
My boss, might I mention is really cool. He has an earing, wears a shark's tooth necklace and can quote My Cousin Vinny, Finding Nemo, and Office Space from memory. He's really cool, I don't think he'll have a problem with it.
Just to be safe however, I didn't dye my entire head. I also didn't bleach the hair first (that makes it more vibrant). Instead, I only did the underlayer of hair. So in the picture, I'm actually pulling up the top layer of hair so you can see the pink, otherwise, all you get is a little bit of pink tip if I move just right.
I like it, my mom thinks I'm a dissapointment who is doing it just to hurt her (but what else is new), my little sister thinks it cool, but most importantly of all (and this bears repeating) I LIKE IT.
Hope everyone had as much fun this holiday as I did.

Ye sons of lily livered iguanas

Okay kids since I've been scolded about my lack of communication about my activities, here is what I did my first week out in the cayman (pronounced as kay-mon for those of you who are interested). It is called pirates week. Basically, the whole population celebrates the pirates coming in and killing the local British garrison. Every town has a night where it hosts the festivities with the party getting started in Georgetown (where I live). They import pirates from all over--I met some from Seattle and Georgia.
Captain Jack Sparrow showed up and I think he brought his own rum as well. The best part is that the first thing that this man said to us was "Welcome to the Caribbean luv". So go watch Pirates of the Caribbean and imagine being there when he says that line and you might have a small idea of how happy it made me. If that doesn't do it for you just look at my super cheesy smile. The darker skinned pirate demanded a kiss as his payment for the picture. I'm not going to lie; I was a little concerned about the possibilities of contracting some disease through that payment. But I didn't and thus I am here to comment about the picture with my lips intact. (And I pecked his cheek for those of you who might possibly be thinking a little more.)
Here I am rockin it out at the balcony at Breezes by the Bay. My roommate/coworker/fellow intern and I totally started a dance party there. I even had some islanders who were impressed with my booty shakin' moves. It was quite the night out on the town.
More details on my past month coming soon.....

Well, more news, and more responsibility shared among the crowd.

Gosh, Elsie, it's nice to actually hear what you're up to. . . . a-hem!

Well, I made all ya'll administrators. Why? Because I'm going to be moving about three times in the next year, and I will be having another baby, so I don't know how often I'll be able to post or . . . administrate.

Oh, yeah, we will actually be statnioned in Fort Lewis, Washington for three-ish years. Depending on if J. goes to Ranger school and what not, we will be there as early as August and as late as November. For those confused readers out there, we will actually be in Virginia for just three months, April to July-ish. Our baby's due mid July, so we might have to stay back there for a little while after he's finished training.

Anyway, J. graduates and commissions in 9 days. I'm excited to finally be getting full-time pay, and free benefits, and a housing allowance. Yeah, that's nice. Okay, I'm bragging now. I'll stop.

Good luck everyone.

What's happened?

So I started looking at the amount of posts we've had per month and I must say our numbers are a little pitiful. My excuse is that I haven't had my computer for the past three weeks; what's yours?

So the picture is me standing in front of my apt.

Okay not really. I just thought it would be funny to say that. It's just a random shack that I pass everyday as I walk to work.

So I've heard that everybody is getting a lot of snow out there....are these rumors true? I was just wondering because it's difficult to remember that it is Christmas out here as I get dressed in my shorts, slippers (that's what everybody calls their flip-flops), and a t-shirt.

I think everybody needs to put some pictures up here too. I can't remember what y'all even look like!
