Part-time position at USU

For those of you looking for a little extra income or to keep up on those copy editing skills, here's a job posting for you:

Regional Campuses and Distance Education (RCDE) is seeking to fill the position of part-time Public Relations Specialist on the Logan Campus. RCDE offers a growing and dynamic work environment. Working 10-20 hours per week (will vary depending on project timelines) the position will be primarily responsible for writing and editing public relations material for Regional Campuses & Distance Education, including its various statewide campuses and centers, and its out-of-state distance education programs. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer and editor requiring little outside assistance, who works well under pressure, and is able to produce materials on tight deadlines. They should be self-motivated and require little direction to complete tasks yet work well in a collaborative setting. They must be conscious of the final audience and able to tailor the written product to meet their needs.

1. Support the Regional Campuses & Distance Education (RCDE) marketing office with research, writing and editing in the creation and dissemination of electronic and printed marketing and communication materials.

2. Under the direction of the Marketing and Graphics Coordinator assist USU regional campuses and centers in the development of local stories and geographically-targeted marketing materials.

3. Coordinate with USU's central public relations and marketing office to assure that all marketing efforts are in compliance with and support university-wide marketing strategies.

4. Aid in the development of marketing campaigns/strategies and public relations efforts for RCDE, local campuses/centers and the degrees/programs RCDE provides.

5. Meet deadlines and project timelines.

6. Maintain professional standards and follow the AP writing style.

1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field and two or more years’ experience in a related professional setting.

2. Have an understanding and experience with the Adobe Creative Suite and a track record of using Adobe InDesign.

3. Proven success and experience in writing using AP style.

4. Knowledge of the higher education, distance education, and regional campus setting.

5. Experience in writing and managing web content using a content management system.
